I enjoy looking at the stats on things. Whether it be my website, my YouTube channel, or just random stats like religion in society, or Coke vs Pepsi. Anything really, I don’t know why. Anyway. I was looking at a bunch of information that my website gives me, and I thought I would just share some of the ones I thought were interesting.

First, I have written 520 posts since I started. This one will be 521. That is a lot of writing, but it’s been over the course of 7 years as of this month. I didn’t remember when I started it, but I guess it was October of 2018. I never paid attention before, but WordPress also keeps track of word count. It says I’ve written 45.5K words.

My most popular day it says was December 7, 2018 in which I got 225 views. But, views don’t equate to visitors. Views happen when someone clicks through to my website. Visitors are those that click on other things on my website or spend time there, longer than just a click and a whoops that’s not what I wanted type of thing. So, with that definition in mind, I have had 23,033 views of my website and 12,948 visitors.

The most popular day people read my blog is on Sunday’s, and the most popular time is at 7:00 pm. The most popular post I’ve written is called Chutes and Ladders, Girdwood Alaska. It’s about the hike Chutes and Ladders, and it’s fairly hard to find. I don’t know if the post helped, but maybe it gave others some good ideas of what to do in Girdwood, Alaska.

I need to revamp my categories section here, I only have 2, so that doesn’t really help in my stats. But the tags that are currently most popular on my website are family, families are forever, and forever family. Those were some of the tags from my most recent blog posts about my brother.

I have had 240 visitors in the last 7 days. I don’t count views, just because they probably didn’t stay on the site long enough to see what it was about. I find it interesting, the stats page even tells me where people live who have viewed my page. United States is obviously the top, with Canada coming in second, then United Kingdom, Australia, Sweden, Germany, Belgium, India, Armenia, and so on.

My most popular post in the last 30 days was my last post, Heartfelt Thank You, which leads me to my thought on all these stats.

When I started I had grand ideas about how this would all work out. But as things go, building something from the ground up is hard, and takes a long time sometimes. When I started, if I got even a single view in one day I was so excited! Now, I can get as few as 4 or 5, or as many as 100 or more views in a single day. I started off not knowing what my niche was, and worrying a lot about it. Over the years I have used this blog as a way to express myself, the whole me, not just a single niche of who I am.

You all have responded. I don’t have a huge following, but that’s not necessarily what it was all about. My previous post, and thanking all who helped with my brother and his family, got me thinking about all of you. I want to send all of you a huge thank you for sticking with me through the last 7 years, or however long you’ve been here. Sometimes my thoughts probably ramble, and sometimes the content is mainly for me to figure things out, but I am so grateful you’re here on my journey with me.

I enjoy the writing process, and I enjoy sharing all the different aspects of my thought process and my ideas. I enjoy sharing my art, my recipes, my faith, and all the other things that make me me. This blog, that I wondered if it would become a chore, has been (and will continue to be) something I look forward to writing 2 times a week. It will continue to be random, but I hope that you can find a little gem of knowledge, understanding, or uplift on a hard day as you come and read.
