One of my daughters likes to occasionally do power point nights, where everyone creates a power point on something and then we all share them. They are so funny. The one and only power point night I did, mine was on how Raising Canes is better than Chick-Fil-A because here in Alaska we have Raising Canes, and down in Southern Utah they have Chick-Fil-A’s.
Some of the funniest ones were guess who. The presenter found pictures of family members and then blew them up and we had to guess who it was. We also did guess who’s based on activities people participated in. Sometimes they are just informative. One person last time had just come home from Peru and did a presentation on some of their favorite places and activities while there.
But, my favorite ones are the hot takes because they are controversial, and get people thinking and talking. So, I thought I’d share some hot takes of my own here. Some will be funny, some will be more serious:

- Raising Cane’s is better than Chick-Fil-A
- The only way to eat those Christmas popcorn tins is to pull the divider out and mix all the flavors together.
- Human life is precious and should never be destroyed.
- T-Rex dinosaurs are really dragons that could fly and maybe even breath fire
- Laws should simply be obeyed, not stepped over to see how far they can be pushed
- Government should not interfere with private enterprise
- Capitalism isn’t breaking our country or economy, dishonesty is
- The Constitution of the United States, Declaration of Independence, and Bill of Rights were created by God fearing men (not perfect men), and is still the best form of government on the earth today.
- Yellow lights mean slow down, and red lights mean stop
- Race isn’t an issue if you don’t make it one, love everyone.
- The piano is the best instrument to learn to play
- Nachos are the best food ever created
- 13 is one of the luckiest numbers
And so I’ll end there, on lucky number 13. You may agree with all, some, or none, but those are my hot takes. I believe in all of them but one, and I’m interested to see the emerging research on the dinosaurs, pretty interesting stuff there.
Do you have any hot takes you’d like to share? I’d love to hear them, even if they oppose my views, I’d still love to hear what you think. Thank you to all who continue to read my blog, and to all the new-comer’s, welcome, I hope you find a reason to stay!
