ACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions, and Originals. This has been a fun thing for me to not only learn about but also paint.
These cards are 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches, the same size as a baseball card, and they are a fun way for anyone to own an original, or to purchase editions in groups.
I have painted more than a dozen of these fun cards for this upcoming tourist season here in Alaska, and will continue to get a few more done before my first market. They are small, quicker to paint, and so much fun!
They also come with a much more affordable price tag, especially for an original. I will be selling my originals, in a protective case, for anywhere from $20 to $50 depending on how long each one has taken me and whether or not I am planning on reproducing the image in cards and other products. Mostly They will not be reproduced. If you’ve ever wanted to own an original piece of artwork, this is a fun way to do it!
Not everyone is selling originals in these little cards, sometimes they are series of paintings that they have created a tiny compilation of. For instance: birds, or flowers, or a certain landscape like Zion National Park, or something like that. Every artist will price theirs differently.
For my ACEO cards, I have placed the originals in individual baseball card type holders. These holders are a heavier weight, UV protected, hard plastic case. Each card will come with a certificate of authenticity certifying that indeed it is the original, sold by me, and copyrighted (to me). The only thing you don’t get is the right to reproduce the image as it is my original artwork.
