One of the prompts today on the back end of my website is: If you could wear only the same clothing forever, what would it be? This one is easy for me.

I would choose to wear jeans and a t-shirt. But it’s easy because that’s what I wear most days anyway. Before I read that prompt, I was thinking about women’s clothing though, So I thought I’d share my thoughts.

This morning I went with my daughter to find a swimming suit. She needed a blue one for a bachelorette party. She isn’t a fan of blue, but we went searching. Blue is a hard color to find.

My daughter told me that blue is a color they don’t recommend you buy when swimming in pools, and they highly discourage buying blue for children. It makes them really hard to see underwater, resulting in possible increased risk of drowning. I hadn’t ever heard that, but it makes sense.

We did find blue, but not in the swimwear. She found something in the active wear that would work. The reason being, quite a few of the swim suits are very skimpy. The ones that aren’t my daughter deemed as old lady swim suits. I had to agree!

Even the one piece suits are high cut on the legs, low cut on the front and the backs are often non-existent. We did find a couple of cuter one piece ones that were more modest and not too old lady looking. But they are fewer and farther between.

I am not sure who designs swim suits, and I’m sure lots of people buy what the stores have, otherwise they would carry something different. But my daughter is not the only one I’ve talked to recently who has had trouble finding something that fits and still covers everything well.

Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I don’t like to parade my body around on display in a skimpy bathing suit so everyone can look at me, good or bad. I like to keep myself at least somewhat covered! My daughter felt the same way. Neither of us have body image issues, but neither of us think we are a show for everyone else either.

I’m not sure who designs women’s clothes, but I find a lot of it annoying. Swimming suits, the tiny pockets in jeans, the lack of pockets in everything else, the low cut tops, or crop tops, booty shorts, the list goes on. I should probably start my own clothing line, but I’m not sure how, nor do I have the time. But it might be fun to try!
