Today is Palm Sunday, the day that Jesus Christ rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. He was recognized by some for who He was, King of Kings. Others were plotting to kill Him. He came because He is the Son of the Living God, the Only Begotten of the Father. He came to experience this mortal life, all of it.
But He also came to suffer, suffer for me, and suffer for you. He is our brother, but more than that, He is our advocate with the Father, our mediator. He is our comfort and our guide. He came to show us the way home through His example and His teachings.
He came so that I can make mistakes, because He knew I would. But He didn’t want me to stay stuck. He came so I could repent, He came so I could learn, He came so I could grow and become like Him through my experiences and His grace.
He is full of mercy, kindness and love. I know this because I have experienced the sweet, peace and love that come from repenting. His grace is sufficient not just for me, but for all of humankind. Not just all the ones who believe, but all mankind, everywhere, who have ever lived or will ever live.
I don’t understand fully how it works, but I do know that because of Him, I can go back to my Heavenly Father, with Him as my advocate and Savior, and stand clean before Him.
This week we celebrate Jesus, especially His resurrection. I’m excited to study this last week of His life again this year, and I invite you to do the same. If you need some ideas, you can check out Easter Holy Week from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
