They say goals are just wished if you don’t write them down. I often forget to write them down, and here’s the results.

Writing Goals Down

At the beginning of the year I sat down and wrote out some goals, along with the steps to get them finished. I also wrote out a weekly schedule that included all the things I needed to get done, appointments, cleaning, and what not, along with the goals that I needed to accomplish that week.

As the weeks went along, I was writing the exact same things on my calendar every week, the only thing that changed was the goals that I had written at the bottom, so I stopped creating the calendar, relying on my phone for the appointments, and my memory and alarms on my phone for the other things.

I have learned this does not work well! I already knew that, but I sometimes have to learn things over and over again before they stick. The last month I have not been getting as much done, or at least I have not felt as productive as I was before, and my goals have suffered because of that.

I still accomplish things, but some of my goals have been lacking the attention that I wanted to give them, simply because it hasn’t been written anywhere prominent to remind me of the next step; so I have had to think about it, and sometimes that means it doesn’t get done as I have many things to think about everyday.

I have all the appointments on my phone, I don’t need a second, or third calendar for that stuff. I have my cleaning schedule set up in a way I like it, and it works really well, so I don’t need to write that down.

So I am beginning again. This time just with the goals, to keep me on track and progressing. I used to think that “next week things will slow down.” I am not that naรฏve anymore, so I know I just need to prioritize what is important to me and make the time to get it done.
