Foosball is a fun game, but human foosball takes it to a whole new level!

Human Foosball

Traditional foosball table.

I have the great opportunity to work with the youth in my church right now. I mainly work with the young women, but we have combined activities once a month with the young men.

These activities can consist of almost anything. We’ve had service projects, game nights, sports of various kinds, cooking, dinners, dance instruction, etc.

Tonight the young men were in charge and we played human foosball. Setup is pretty easy and inexpensive, you just need a big enough room to play it in. The gym in our building was already being used for a pinewood derby, so we had to use the next biggest room in the building, the primary room.

The youth from our ward lined up ready to play human foosball

There are doors on either side, so the Bishop removed the doors and the openings became the goals. He taped down a goalie box in front of each opening, and then there were 4 lines parallel to the goalie boxes spaced pretty evenly across the room.

Each line had a piece of pipe that the players held on to with both hands, and they had to keep one foot on their line at all times. They could move side to side, but not front to back. The players faced the goal they were shooting at, alternating teams from one row to the next.

We had enough youth for 3 teams, so we played till one team scored 2 and then switched out. The youth had a blast, and it was so fun to watch. The room was small and there were no out of bounds areas, so as a spectator you had to be watching so you didn’t get hit in the head.

Game on in our human foosball game.

The youth all left sweaty and laughing, which in my opinion is a great activity. The young men leaders did a great job getting it set up, and we have decided it might just have to be an annual event. I am grateful that the majority of our youth will just jump in and have fun together. They didn’t worry too much about winning or losing or how they look doing it, they just had a lot of fun together. If you’re looking for a fun youth night activity, or a fun activity for a group of teenagers, this is a great option!
