It’s important as we set goals to have a place where we can be accountable to someone. I am going to periodically utilize you as my accountability partner.
We are now almost 1 month into the new year and I thought I would update you on where I’m at in my goal processes. If you go back to my 2025 goals post you can read what I’ve shared about where I’m headed with my time.

Creating YouTube content takes me a long time I’ve decided. The first two goals actually work together – create the content and then learn more about DaVinci Resolve video editing so I can get the videos together and shareable on YouTube. My goal was to share a video every 2 weeks, filming the first week, editing and uploading the next week and then repeat.
Well, the first week after I set my goals I completely spaced out filming a video. But I am back on track. I did film a painting last week, and last night I finished editing the video so it’s ready to upload to YouTube. I will do that later today.
These two goals started off slow, but I think now that I am learning more about the basics, and I have my daughter here to help me when I get stuck, I will be able to complete this goal regularly throughout the year.
I have also done a lot better about painting more regularly. I had to work on a painting for the video, but I have also been painting small practice pieces a lot more as well. I was running out of journal paper for the purpose of the small practice pieces, but I ordered several more and they have arrived.
Having these little journals helps me stay motivated as I know I’m just practicing. I also know it’s a small painting, so it won’t take long. That is, unless I really get into the picture and start adding a lot of detail!
I completed the next goal – the marketing class I was taking. The class ended up not being what I was looking for. It was more of a general overview of all the places you could market things, but did not go into any detail about how to go about setting up advertising in any of the markets. It did help me determine that what I was looking for was a more specific class on very specific markets, like google ads and social media marketing. I will be looking for classes that are more specific in those areas.

Lastly – more regular engagement in my business. I’m not sure how well I’ve done this, but I didn’t start out with a very good goal. It was too general. I am rethinking this goal and how to make it more specific and thus more measurable.
I have worked on business related items throughout the month, and I am excited for the first 2 Saturday’s in February as I have a bazaar associated with the Willow Winter Carnival to do with my daughter. this involves her photography business, my art business, and a new business we created together called Alaska Custom Crafted.
The second Saturday is a couples class. This one is exciting as I was approached by some friends to teach this class. I find it exciting because they were excited to try watercolor and approached me, I didn’t have to go out and reserve space, advertise, and cross my fingers hoping people would sign up.
I am excited this year for where I am headed. How have you been doing on your goals?
