I started teaching watercolor classes this April. I have been having so much fun teaching these classes. Class sizes have varied quite dramatically, from 1 person at some of my market mini classes through the summer at the Farmer’s Market, to 16 at some of my longer classes held every other month. My most recent class had 3 students and we had a lot of fun painting harvest moons with silhouettes in front of them.

Not too long ago I had a message from someone in a neighboring town – Big Lake, who wanted to know if I would be interested in teaching a painting class there at her studio. I jumped at the opportunity to branch out locations and will be teaching on Nov. 9 there in Big Lake. We will be doing the layers of mountains that I did previously in Willow. I am excited as this is a super easy beginning technique that looks really great when it’s finished.
My daughter and I are also combining forces in November to do a fun booth at our local holiday bazaar. She is a professional photographer. She will be taking family photos and I will be sublimating those images on to various items like towels, ornaments, puzzles, etc. for Christmas presents. We don’t yet have a flyer made for that (we need to get on the ball!) but we are prepping and excited to try something new!

On December 7 I will be having another local watercolor class. This one will be a little bit different class, and will probably be priced differently. We will be painting Christmas cards in a couple of different ways. I may add ornaments as well, but I haven’t totally decided on that yet. This one will be more kid friendly, easier and shorter, so I will include kids as long as a parent is attending as well.
I am excited for all the upcoming events. Grateful for those who have attended and who excitedly ask when the next one is coming. This has been a fun way to share my love of watercolor with people who love to learn. If you live in Alaska and would like to join me, I would love to have you! I post the flyers for all of my events on my art Facebook page: Stephanie Richey Art and Life Coaching (for some reason I can’t link it, you’ll have to search on Facebook, sorry!). Follow me there for the latest updates!
