This past week has been long and exhausting, as well as relaxing, with great conversation. My daughter and son-in-law moved up here to Alaska and my son and I helped drive up. They had a truck with a U-Haul trailer and a car. It was nice to have 4 drivers for the 2 vehicles so we could switch out.
I have been over this highway 15 times, but not in 22 years, so this was a fun trip to remember as well as to share some of my fun memories. We went through quite a range of weather, starting out in 75-80 degrees in Utah, dropping to 31 degrees when we reached our home. We went through some of the most beautiful scenery with weather ranging from summer to fall, to a little bit of winter and back into fall.
I am not a big picture person, so I didn’t get as many as I was thinking I had, choosing to enjoy in real time the beautiful scenery rather than worry about pictures, but I’ll share some of the drive here through some of the pictures I did take.

Most of these pictures I’m not totally sure where we are at, so there’s no captions. We saw some of the most beautiful sunsets while we traveled and we only hit rain and snow the very last day. I was grateful not to have had to drive straight through, we stopped every night and camped except once in the middle where we stayed in a hotel.

We saw more wildlife on this trip than I have ever seen on this highway, seeing moose, caribou, bear, buffalo, sheep, elk and deer. We also stopped at one of the places I’ve always wanted to stop but my husband and I have never taken the time – Liard Hot Springs. We left smelling like sulfur but it was so relaxing. I’m glad I finally got to stop there.
This was definitely a fun but long trip. I am glad to have gone, but grateful to be home again.
