The other day I registered my last child, for his last year of high school. It is so weird that just yesterday I was having kids, and now today, they’re almost all grown up, or at least that’s how fast it feels like it went.
As I register my kids every year, I get this itch to also start learning new things. Winters in Alaska are cold, dark, and long. I have found over the years that the winters are more enjoyable when I have something new to learn, something to keep me engaged.
Over the years I have done quite a number of things. Learning a different language, how to create websites, digitize my own art, learning to sew clothing well, cross stitching, life coaching, learning to publish books, find new products and new ways to get my art on all sorts of useful items, etc. Not only is it engaging, but quite a number of those things have helped me directly, or indirectly in my business.
This year is no different. I don’t know if google has a good algorithm for me, or if it’s just that time of year, but I keep having ads pop up for a variety of learning opportunities. There are quite a number of them that have peaked my interest.

I am still always looking at learning about marketing as I don’t feel like I understand that well enough, based upon my online sales, I really don’t understand that well enough yet. I have been thinking about taking a second life coaching course. I have a public speaking course that I need to finish. I have recently downloaded Davinci for video editing and have a course that I’ve subscribed to to learn more about how to do that. I have a course on Etsy algorithms that goes along with the marketing I need to finish up, and a course on YouTube content creation. I also recently had a Naturopathy course pop up that I thought might be interesting to learn about.
There is no shortage of information in our society today, most of it being at our fingertips anymore. Much of the information can be obtained through online colleges or schools of some sort depending on the accreditation that might be needed. Most of the unaccredited information doesn’t cost a lot but is still useful information.
One of the things marketing schools talk a lot about is finding a niche. I think that’s the biggest problem with my marketing strategy, I don’t have a niche, I love to learn about so many things, and then try everything out, then something new comes along and I head off in a new direction rather than keeping within my niche and working at that long enough for it to succeed. But I am learning, both to key hole some of my stuff so it’s easier to find, but also just learning in general which I love to do.
Well, when I settle on something, probably not one thing, so I guess some things, I will let you know what it might be!
