I am excited to announce that my new book, In The Details is now available for preorder through both Amazon and Barnes and Noble! This book has been almost 2 years in the making from idea to today. But it has been a lifetime in the making of the content.
Over the years I have had many experiences seeing the hand of the Lord in my everyday life. I have come to know how much He wants to be a part of my life and I have been able to see how He utilizes everyday experiences and past learning to help me in times of need. Because of the experiences I have had, I have come to know Him, to seek His help, and to know how much He truly loves me.
This is the third book I have written and the first I have taken through the professional editing process. So I thought I would relate some of the experiences that helped to shape this book and get it where we are at today.
The first 2 books I wrote I self published. It was quite a learning process, both the writing and the publishing process, but it was a good experience to work through the entire process myself. It helped me be more aware of the time that it takes as well as to understand all the steps so that I didn’t get discouraged as I worked through the process with others this time around.

When I decided to go through an editing company, I didn’t even really know where to start. I searched a couple of companies that I knew the names of and submitted my work to the one that was accepting new manuscripts. I got a rejection letter within about 10 days of submitting.
This was discouraging on two fronts as the information I had read said it could take several months to hear back. I decided my manuscript must be really bad for them to get back to me so quickly. But I had also had the distinct impression that I needed to write this book so why the rejection letter. I decided maybe I was just supposed to write the book for me and possibly for my posterity, and I set it aside. A month or two later I saw an advertisement for a different publishing company, but one I had read a number of books from – Covenant House. I decided to submit to them. I did so, and then forgot about it.

About a month later while I was in Utah for my daughter’s wedding, I got a call from the company and they said they liked my book and would like to proceed forward with the publishing process if I was still interested. I was shocked, excited, nervous, everything all at once. But I decided to go for it if my husband was on board as well.
Using a publishing company has huge advantages, but also one large hurdle that had to be crossed, the money it would cost. I talked to my husband and he said he would support me in whatever I decided, but encouraged me to pray about it. I had done a lot of praying and felt good about doing it, so we proceeded. This winter has been exceptionally tight financially, but with a little bit of help from a kind donor, we made it work.
The process has continued to be a learning process as all things are. So many emails with updates. I have reread this book probably a dozen times as I have read through the editors corrections, my corrections, the page layouts, etc. Every time I read this book though, I am so grateful for the experiences that I have had throughout my life, I am grateful to have a Heavenly Father that is so much involved, and wants to be involved in my life.
When we got to the cover design I had a specific picture that I had painted that I was hopeful they would let me use. The story behind the picture is included in the book. They were totally willing to let me use that as my cover and I am pleased with how it turned out and how they incorporated the background of the painting into the back of the book so it all matched well.
Covenant Books has been a great publishing company. My point of contact has been prompt in getting back to me when I have questions, as well as informing me of the next steps in the process. I would definitely recommend them to others, and if I ever write another book, I would go back and work with them again.
If you would like to see how God has been a part of my life, as well as see how He has been working in yours, go preorder your copy today!
