General Conference weekend for me is bigger than the Super Bowl, and so much more uplifting.

First president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, called of God and sustained as prophets, seers, and revelators along with the 12 apostles.

This weekend we are again gathered to listen to the general leadership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have shared each conference some of the quotes and things from the leaders of my Church in past blogs. I love listening to these leaders speak.

I just finished watching the world report that is broadcast after each session. There is so much happening all over the world, I wish I could travel to many of these places and meet the people and give a helping hand. But then I remember that I live in a community, a wonderful place where I can help those around me. We have all been asked to lift where we stand utilizing the talents the Lord has blessed us with.

Usually there is a theme to the conference, not necessarily intentional, but the Lord inspires the speakers as He knows what the membership and the world is in need of currently, that’s the great thing about ongoing revelation and having living prophets and apostles to guide the Church.

This conference is no different, but I’ve found it interesting to note what different member of my family have gotten out of this conference. My oldest daughter and I agreed yesterday that we felt like a recurring theme was temple attendance. But my oldest son felt like the theme for him was teaching the gospel and missionary work. He is preparing for his mission, so I think that is particularly on his mind.

As we have gone along through the 4 of 5 sessions that we have listened to though, the thing that has most touched my heart is peace. Personal peace and comfort as well as peace about the uncertain world we live in. This world in a lot of ways seems to be lacking much peace anymore, so to feel it deeply and know that Heavenly Father has a plan and that all of this is part of it is comforting.

We have one session to go today and I am excited to hear the remaining messages that will be given. I know that these men and women who are speaking to us were called of God to their positions just as I am called of God to my positions locally. I know that they are inspired in their responsibilities to the world just as I can be inspired in my little corner of the world.
