Pasta Making

I’m late tonight because I wanted some pictures.โ€‚I love making good food, and one of those foods I love is pasta.โ€‚But I don’t often make it.โ€‚I used to not make it because I felt like it was time consuming, but then I timed myself and realized it’s really not.โ€‚

Homemade pasta

This afternoon when I had a piano lesson cancel and found myself with some extra time, so I decided to make pasta.โ€‚I have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer and pasta attachments to make large flat noodles, alfredo noodles, and spaghetti noodles.โ€‚I opted for alfredo noodles tonight.

I like part wheat pasta, and happened to have ground wheat yesterday to make bread, so it was just a matter of making it.โ€‚The recipe I use comes from the pasta attachments little handbook of instruction, so I won’t give it here as it’s not my recipe.โ€‚

seasoned skirt steak

I got my pasta ready, and had earlier found a skirt steak in the freezer so I had thawed that out for dinner as well.โ€‚I found a great rub recipe online and got that rubbed on the steak.โ€‚I made a quick alfredo type sauce before starting on the rest, just so I had burners free.โ€‚After that it was pretty quick getting dinner on the table.โ€‚Boil water and cook pasta.โ€‚Homemade pasta cooks in about 5 minutes, and sear the steak, recipe said 4 minutes on each side.โ€‚

I filled the house with a little bit of smoke from searing the steak, boiled over the water on the first batch of pasta, but all in all, the taste on both the steak and the pasta was delicious.โ€‚I have to say, the steak could have used about 1 more minute for my liking, but it was perfect for my husband.โ€‚However, as skirt steak can be, it was a bit chewy.

The pasta was delicious, sauce was perfect, and it was a great dinner.โ€‚I was grateful for the extra time and glad I decided to go the homemade route with the pasta.โ€‚
