I love creating with my art, especially fabric. Sometimes I like to get creative with the backs as well.

Creativity Takes Many Forms

You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have. Maya Angelou

I love the creativity of painting. Hanging a beautiful painting on a wall is a great use of beautiful art, but I like to be able to do more with it. I’ve also found that many people have limited wall space, but they love supporting artists. Having other products makes it easier for people to be supportive and get a great reminder of a vacation, a special moment, or what not, so putting my art on other things besides paper and canvas gives people options.

One of my favorite things I do with my art is to put it on fabric. I love the additional creativity that comes from being able to make other things besides wall art with art that I have loved painting. Recently I decided to make a few small throw blankets to try and sell at the market. I love making quilts. But, I will share the quilt tops that I have made in a later post. Today I was dealing with the backing fabric of these quilts.

I purchased white muslin fabric for the backs, but then decided I really don’t like white, it gets dirty too easy. So today I decided to dye the fabrics. I cut the fabric to fit each of the three quilt tops and then dyed them based on the front background fabric. I ended up with a pink, purple and blue back.

I am excited to finish up these quilts. I don’t know if I’ll get them done by this Friday for the market, but I will have them finished by the following week. I have had a lot of fun putting together the tops, and I am excited to see how they will finish off with these fun, colorful backgrounds.
